The Game (frame)
In the game of Snooker the objective of this game is to score more points than the opponent. This is done by potting the object balls in a predefined order during the players turn at the table. To commence a frame, the balls are positioned as shown in the diagrams. Normally the toss of a coin will determine which player will start the frame.
To start the frame the player must place the ball in the “D” where the Yellow, Brown and Green balls are and strike the Cue Ball (white ball) with the tip of the cue. The Cue ball must strike the triangle of reds before any colour ball. Barring a foul shot the game has now begun.

All turns at the table are called a Break! The players will then take it in turns to play their shot by striking the white ball with the tip of the cue, aiming to pot one of the red balls and score a point. Success in potting the red results in 1 point and the player can then pot a colour ball. If the player pots the colour ball their points increase by the value of the colour and the player can then continue to pot another red followed by a colour. This continues until the player misses the pot or causes a foul shot.

Each time a red ball is potted it remains in the pocket however, each time a colour ball is potted it is returned to its correct position on the table. A player’s break is thus – one red followed by one colour followed by another red and colour and so on. The frame will continue in this manner until all the reds are potted. When the final red is potted followed by a colour, the colour ball is returned to it spot on the table leaving only the 6 colours on the table to complete the frame. These colours, apart from the one placed after the last shot, may be anywhere on the table depending on the state of the game.

The final objective of the frame is to pot the colours in their correct order of yellow 2, green 3, brown 4, blue 5, pink 6, black 7. In this final phase of the game the colour balls remain in the pocket once they have been potted with the exception of a foul shot. Once the final ball is potted the player with the most points is deemed the winner of the frame.
